Why Foam

Cellulose and fiberglass were (and still are) the most common forms of insulation used before the invention of spray foam insulation. While both can offer some insulation value, they have numerous deficiencies and, when compared to spray foam insulation, their defects become even more glaringly obvious. Unlike its predecessors, polyurethane foam completely blocks air flow. Its R-value per inch (the certified measurement of the insulation’s effectiveness in resisting heat) stands head and shoulders above all other forms of insulation, topping out at an R-7 per inch. Conversely, cellulose and fiberglass max out in the mid 3’s but their effective R-values plummet when accounting for air passing through the material and their unfortunate ability to retain water vapor. Spray polyurethane foam is much more effective at insulating your home, attic, basement, crawl space.

Spray foam insulation has many advantages over traditional insulation:

• Blocks air flow and aids in the reduction of allergens entering your home
• Retains its position and shape and doesn’t settle or shrink over time
• Expands to over 100 times its original size, fitting into corners and crevices for maximum air flow blockage
• Is unusable by pests and does not make good nests, preventing infestation (unlike traditional insulation materials which can provide nest materials for birds and rodents)
